Your next iPad will be Brazilian

I bet we’re going to see more if these sorts of announcements… Large tech manufacturing deals coming out of Brazil.

The country has been focused on IT for a while and has been using a combination of carrots (government programs, grants, joint investments) and sticks (we’ll tax the hell out of any product you import and don’t make here) to entice investment.

Brazil has a population that is growing in size, affluence and disposable income. If you want to sell there, you gotta play by their rules.

Yes, this is a Foxconn announcement, but it is undoubtedly powered by an Apple desire to sell in Brazil.
