In online video, simplicity is key

October 11, 2011

There is a new online video rental service emerging to compete with Apple/iTunes.

As I have an Apple TV (and a Roku) I am comfortably within the Apple universe and am able to rent movies on demand, at home quite comfortably.

That said, I think there is room for new entrants to try to shake up the market and make VOD rentals more convenient for the consumer.

So I was happy to read about the new service called UltraViolet…. until I read this:

As a first-time user, you’ll need to create a Flixster account, open an UltraViolet account and link it to Flixster, and enter a 12-digit redemption code from the Blu-ray disc to gain digital access. It’s a five-step process, but the good news is that once those accounts are set up, you won’t have to enter that information again.

Well back to the drawing board……

With UltraViolet, Hollywood offers an alternative to iTunes — Online Video News.
