Pattern: killer content + product

Apple obviously nailed this formula long before anyone else… Don’t just offer a product, but offer a killer experience that combines product and content.

Amazon is taking a page out of this book with the Kindle Fire.

So far, Android has largely fallen flat because it doesn’t offer the complete integrated experience.

But Google TV could be different. As a product, it essentially drove over a cliff last year. But Google TV could yet rise out of the ashes of that wreck. Lining up original YouTube content is a great step.

If they match that content up with great products, Google could take early ownership of the TV before Apple, and potentially disrupt the cable channel/cableco marriage of convenience.
