Stuff calls Transformer Gadget of the Year

November 5, 2011

High praise indeed for a good, but not great tablet. I’m an iPad devotee but got a Transformer from work. It took me a while to get used to it and for some of my favorite apps to become available, but now that I’m over the learning curve I have become somewhat addicted to it.

This is totally true, I can tell if the design is antiquated or retro cool:

It’s well built, too: the retro brown colour may look as if it’s been modelled on a 1970s Casio calculator, but the metal chassis is designed to last.

As is this, the Asus Eee Pad does feel pretty wonky:

However, Honeycomb, the tablet-specific flavour of Android, is still in its early stages of development and is a little quirkier than iOS. It’s easy to overload a home page with widgets than can cause the Transformer to stutter once in a while.
