Finding kids’ apps: KinderTown
As we’ve discussed here several times, finding new and interesting apps is a royal pain in the patookas with the way apps stores are currently set up. You either find Angry Birds, or you find rubbish…. the good stuff is so hard to find.
This is especially true of children’s apps. And with kids, you just don’t want to make a mistake. You want to find the right apps, right away (especially if you need to entertain them and they’re screaming…. yes, I use apps as a babysitter, no parent-of-the-year award for me!)
So hello KinderTown kids app store. It is pretty genius. It only works on IOS.
What you say? How does KinderTown sneak a competitive app store on the tightly regulated IOS platform? Here’s the genius, it is actually just a discovery and marketing site. You can peruse until your heart’s content for kid friendly apps, and then when you find one KinderTown just shunts you back to the IOS store.
You have your apps, the kid stops screaming, and you keep Apple dominant and rich.
I love happy endings.

Thanks for commenting on KinderTown Ron. I especially love the line about keeping Apple “dominant and rich,” ha.
Don’t hesitate to let us know what you think of KinderTown in the future. This is just the beginning.
