Number of apps… Wrong metric
Microsoft is bragging they’ve got a ton of apps on their marketplace.
40,000 is the big new number!
Ok, that’s great…. Name them.
Yes, I understand that number of apps is some sort of proxy to gauge developer and user popularity, but when you think about it, it is a pretty meaningless number. Especially if the problem of app discovery isn’t addressed.
Without enhanced discoverability, users can’t find new apps and developers can’t connect with a new audience.
So talking about tens of thousands may sound like you’re bringing choice, but in reality you’re just introducing complexity.
